Kathmandu: The Commission investigating the September 8–9 Gen Z Movement has imposed travel restrictions on Chandra Kuber Khapung, who retired today as Inspector General of Police (IGP).
According to Commission Spokesperson Bigyan Raj Sharma, the Commission’s meeting on Wednesday decided to bar Khapung from travelling abroad and from leaving the Kathmandu Valley without prior permission. The decision was taken as he may be required to appear before the inquiry body at any time during the investigation.
Khapung had been serving as the chief of Nepal Police during the Gen Z Movement, which saw widespread protests and unrest across the country.
Earlier, the Commission had also restricted travel for five individuals, including former Prime Minister and CPN (UML) Chair KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, in connection with the same investigation.
