Kathmandu: Coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has said that holding elections on time is essential to prevent the country from sliding into crisis and to guide it toward a new direction.

Addressing the NCP’s Bagmati Province-level unification assembly in Kathmandu on Friday, Dahal stressed that elections remain the most practical and reliable option to address the current political situation. He said citizens and political parties alike are prepared for the polls, but attempts are being made to undermine the election process.

“Elections are the most comfortable and appropriate means at this time to move the country forward,” Dahal said. “The people are ready. We must not allow anyone to sabotage the aspiration for timely elections.”

He emphasized that it is the government’s responsibility to ensure a free and impartial electoral environment, dismissing rumors about the possible reinstatement of the House of Representatives. According to him, such speculation only creates unnecessary confusion.

Calling elections a national necessity, Dahal urged all political forces to focus on preparations rather than uncertainty. He also rejected claims that the dissolved House or the previous government could be revived, stating that such outcomes are highly unlikely.

Dahal further asserted that his party stands as a guardian of the younger generation, citing its past struggles against corruption and its role in advocating for the rights, identity, and liberation of oppressed communities.
