Kathmandu: Former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has accused the government of detaining him in a biased and vindictive manner following the investigation into the Bhadra 23 and 24 incidents.
In a statement shared on social media, Lekhak described the report of the inquiry commission as “incomplete and unsubstantiated,” claiming that the criminal charges against him were baseless. He said he was held in custody for 13 days based on that report before being released following a court order.
“I was finally released despite being kept under control for 13 days based on the biased, vindictive, incomplete and unsubstantiated report of the commission formed in connection with the incidents of Bhadra 23 and 24,” he stated.
Lekhak expressed strong respect for the Supreme Court of Nepal, which issued the order leading to his release, adding that he is a law-abiding individual who believes in justice and the rule of law.
He also made it clear that the legal and political battle is not over and will continue in the coming days.
In his message, Lekhak extended gratitude to those who supported him during his detention, including legal practitioners, judicial staff, human rights activists, political leaders, media personnel, and members of the public who spoke out in favor of his release.
“I express my gratitude to all justice-loving citizens who raised their voices for my release, to legal practitioners who supported me tirelessly, and to all those who stood for justice. I also express my highest respect to the Supreme Court. I believe in the law and justice—the rest of the legal and political battle will continue,” he added.
