Kathmandu: President Ram Chandra Poudel has said that strengthening responsible and people-oriented service delivery through the federal democratic republican system is a national necessity for achieving the goals of good governance, development and prosperity.
Extending his best wishes on the occasion of the 19th Republic Day, President Paudel emphasized the need for cooperation among all levels of government, the private sector and civil society to realize the constitutional vision of social justice, economic prosperity and inclusive development.
He called on all political parties, civil society organizations and stakeholders to contribute from their respective fields toward building a civilized, cultured and prosperous society while safeguarding Nepal’s independence, sovereignty, geographical integrity, national unity and self-respect.
Republic Day is observed every year on Jestha 15 to commemorate the historic declaration of Nepal as a republic by the first meeting of the popularly elected Constituent Assembly on Jestha 15, 2065 BS, following decades of political struggle and public sacrifice.
President Paudel paid tribute to leaders of political parties who led movements for the establishment of the republic and praised the contribution of ordinary citizens, political activists and the wider public who participated in democratic movements across the country.
“I pay heartfelt tribute to all known and unknown martyrs who sacrificed their precious lives for the establishment of a democratic republic,” President Paudel said in his message.
He also expressed hope that the spirit of mutual trust, cooperation and national unity among Nepalis would become stronger on the historic occasion of Republic Day.
