Kathmandu: Arrest warrants have been issued against four former secretaries in relation to their alleged involvement in the Lalita Niwas land misappropriation scam based in Baluwatar. The warrants were issued against Deep Basnyat, Chhabi Raj Panta, Dinesh Hari Adhikary, and Narayan Gopal Malego, who are accused of illegally transferring government land into the names of individuals. This information was confirmed by Nepal Police spokesperson, Deputy Inspector General Kuber Kadayat.
Among the named individuals, former joint-secretary Sudheer Shah has already been arrested in connection with the case. However, Deep Basnyat, the former Chief Commissioner of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), is currently at large.
The police had approached the court to obtain arrest warrants against the four former secretaries. As part of the investigation, the police have reopened the case concerning the transfer of 114 ropanis of land at Lalita Niwas, which was allegedly accomplished through forgery.
