Kathmandu: Political parties in the Federal Parliament have reached a consensus to recommence their legislative activities following discussions. During a meeting at the Prime Minister's residence, the prominent leaders of the national parties decided to establish a committee responsible for addressing the gold smuggling issue. This committee will be entrusted with drafting a comprehensive term of reference (ToR) outlining its investigative scope.

Notable individuals chosen to serve on this committee include Subas Chandra Nembang from the CPN (UML), Ramesh Lekhak from the Nepali Congress, and Hit Raj Pandey from the CPN (Maoist Centre). Rabi Lamichhane, President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, indicated that the parties have committed to producing the draft ToR by Tuesday.

The impetus for this collaboration stemmed from Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, who convened the gathering to resolve the deadlock that had arisen within the parliament. The United Marxist Leninist (UML) party had been obstructing parliamentary proceedings, pressing for the establishment of an inquiry committee.

Ramesh Lekhak, a leader from the Nepali Congress, shared that the parties had reached an understanding to resume the legislative agenda. Key figures present at the meeting included Prime Minister Prachanda, Deputy Prime Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba, UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, RSP President Lamichhane, and other prominent politicians.
