Damauli: The crucial process of acquiring land for the construction of a 400 kV transmission line, a significant component of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) compact, has commenced. This initiative is a collaborative endeavor between the Government of Nepal and the Millennium Challenge Account Nepal (MCA-Nepal).

The scope of the project encompasses the establishment of a transmission line stretching from Ratamate to the new Damauli substation and further from the new Damauli substation to the new Butwal substation. In line with this project, the process of land acquisition has now set in motion, spanning across various localities within Tanahun district, along the designated project area.

On August 29, 2023, the Tanahun district administration office issued a formal notice to signify the commencement of the land acquisition process. This activity has been initiated in accordance with Clause 9 (1) of the Land Acquisition Act, as informed by Assistant Chief District Officer Kashiram Gaire.

The lands earmarked for acquisition for the project are located in Aanbukhaireni, Bandipur, Rishing Rural Municipality, and Byas Municipality. Additionally, the initiative involves the removal of trees within forests, houses, and huts located within the designated area.

For individuals whose houses, huts, structures, or trees fall within the identified land to be acquired for the project, the option to apply for compensation is available. Such applicants are required to submit necessary evidence and documents to the administration office within a stipulated timeframe of 21 days from the publication of the notice.

In the event that there exist valid reasons for objecting to the land acquisition, as per Clause 11 of the Act, individuals can submit complaints to the Ministry of Home Affairs via the respective office. This submission must include specific justifications for the objection and should be lodged within seven days from the publication of the notice, excluding the travel time.
