Gagan Thapa Promises to Address Tourism Sector Issues

Kathmandu: Gagan Kumar Thapa, General Secretary of the Nepali Congress, has pledged that the party will work towards resolving issues within the tourism sector. Thapa expressed his optimism about the party's ability to tackle tourism-related challenges during an event organized by the Democratic Tourism Professionals Association, a supportive group associated with the party.

Thapa stated, "On behalf of the party, we will soon engage in discussions with tourism professionals to address and resolve their concerns." He extended his gratitude to tourism entrepreneurs for their support and encouraged their continued cooperation.

Thapa also announced that the party would host a BP (Bishweshwar Prasad Koirala) literature conference, the first of its kind, to commemorate the contributions of the party's founding leader. He called upon the tourism industry to participate in and support this event.

Ramesh Dhamala, former chairman of the Congress Dhading and a tourism entrepreneur, stressed the importance of comprehensive discussions about the new Tourism Act before moving forward. He expressed satisfaction that the party had started to listen to the concerns of tourism professionals.

Deepak Mahat, coordinator of the Democratic Hoteliers Association, highlighted the significance of democratic tourism professionals for the overall development of Nepal's tourism sector. He requested the party's support and affirmed his desire to expand the working committee of the Democratic Tourism Professionals Association and conduct elections.

Senior tourism businessman Angtshiring Sherpa expressed his concerns that the Congress did not fully understand the complexities of the tourism sector. He emphasized the role of sports during the pandemic in Nepal and urged the government to acknowledge it.

The event saw the participation of various tourism entrepreneurs, including Rakesh Dhamala, Khum Bahadur Subedi, Kul Bahadur Gurung, Neelhari Banstola, Geeta Gurung, Mohan Lamsal, Rajeev Pandey, and others.
