Nepali Congress President Deuba: BP Koirala is My Political Inspiration

Kathmandu: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba expressed his admiration for BP Koirala, the first elected Prime Minister and founding member of the Nepali Congress, stating that Koirala was his political inspiration.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the three-day 'BP Literature Festival' organized by the Nepali Congress, Deuba praised BP Koirala as a multi-dimensional personality who left a lasting legacy in politics and literature.

Deuba noted that Koirala's political thoughts continue to guide the country's political landscape, and his influence extends beyond the realm of politics into literature, society, economics, religion, and culture.

He emphasized that Koirala's legacy includes a commitment to simplicity and values like love, peace, non-violence, and democracy, drawing inspiration from both Mahatma Gandhi and Karl Marx.

Deuba highlighted the Nepali Congress's adherence to the principles of multiparty governance and democratic socialist economics, influenced by BP Koirala's ideology.

BP Koirala was celebrated for his national and international leadership, his role as a political thinker and a litterateur, and his advocacy for inclusion, justice, equality, and freedom. He was known for his unwavering commitment to nationalism, democracy, and socialism.

The BP Literature Festival, organized to commemorate the 110th birth anniversary of BP Koirala, features various activities, including poetry symposiums, ghazal recitations, musical performances, art exhibitions, documentary screenings, and a photo exhibition.
