Kathmandu: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has initiated a significant discussion with Nepali Ambassadors stationed in destination countries, focusing on the issues surrounding labor migration and the role of diplomatic missions.

Ambassadors and delegation heads from various destination countries convened in Kathmandu for a two-day meeting, which is taking place at the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers at Singha Durbar.

The central theme of the discussions, chaired by Prime Minister Dahal, is centered on labor migration, with an emphasis on addressing the various challenges faced by Nepali workers, ranging from obtaining work permits to their workplace conditions. The objective is to find practical solutions to these issues and translate them into actionable decisions.

Representatives from the Ministry of Labor and Employment and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are also actively participating in these deliberations. The meeting aims to identify necessary legal and structural reforms that can enhance the safety and overall experience of labor migration.

This meeting marks a significant milestone as the first-of-its-kind initiative led by the Prime Minister. It underscores Nepal's commitment to addressing the welfare and rights of its citizens working abroad and signifies the government's dedication to making foreign employment more organized, dignified, and safe.

In preparation for the meeting, a working group comprising secretaries from relevant ministries was established under the leadership of the chief secretary. This group was tasked with collecting vital data from Nepali embassies in destination countries and proposing solutions to the challenges faced by Nepali workers in the foreign employment sector.

The discussions are expected to result in concrete measures aimed at improving the experiences of Nepali workers abroad and ensuring that labor migration remains a vital and secure avenue for employment and economic well-being.
