Kathmandu: The "BP Literature Festival, 2080" organized by the Nepali Congress (NC) to commemorate the 110th birth anniversary of BP Koirala continued its discussions on Monday. In a session titled "15 Years that BP Did Not Get," panelists shared their perspectives on BP Koirala's political journey.

The session was facilitated by NC General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa, and it featured insights from experts including Hari Sharma, Bipin Adhikari, Achyut Wagle, and Manchala Jha.

Hari Sharma pointed out that despite leading the government with a two-thirds majority, BP Koirala could not fully implement his theoretical concepts of democratic socialism. This was due to political prejudices, which prevented him from governing for the full term.

Bipin Adhikari, a senior advocate, argued that BP Koirala missed the opportunity to enforce social and political justice and uphold the rule of law during his leadership.

Economist Achyut Wagle highlighted BP Koirala's government in 2016 BS, noting that it initiated economic austerity measures and emphasized the proper utilization of resources.

Similarly, Manchala Jha emphasized the BP-led government's efforts to promote inclusion and equality.

The BP Literature Festival, 2080 BS, is being hosted by the Nepali Congress in honor of its founding leader, BP Koirala. The festival aims to celebrate his legacy and contributions to Nepal's political landscape.

The opening session of the festival featured the screening of a documentary titled "Hijacking for Democracy" on Sunday, shedding light on significant moments in BP Koirala's political journey.
