Prime Minister Prachanda to Lead Nepali Delegation to UN General Assembly in New York

Kathmandu: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, popularly known as 'Prachanda,' is set to depart for New York this coming Saturday, September 16. He will lead a Nepali delegation to participate in the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) to be held at the UN Headquarters in New York.

As per a press release issued by the Foreign Ministry on Thursday, Prime Minister Dahal is scheduled to address the UN General Assembly on September 21. The overarching theme of the General Debate for the 78th UNGA is "Rebuilding Trust and Reigniting Global Solidarity: Accelerating Action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals towards Peace, Prosperity, Progress, and Sustainability for All."

Additionally, the Prime Minister will attend the opening session of the General Debate on September 19 and participate in a reception hosted by the President of the United States, Joe Biden.

During his visit to New York, Prime Minister Dahal will also participate in significant events on the sidelines of the UNGA, such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Summit and the Climate Ambition Summit.

Furthermore, he is scheduled to hold crucial meetings, including discussions with the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, and bilateral meetings with counterparts from various countries.

The Nepali delegation accompanying Prime Minister Dahal includes his daughter, Ganga Dahal, Minister for Foreign Affairs NP Saud, Foreign Secretary Bharat Raj Paudyal, and other senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as stated in the press release.

Prime Minister Prachanda's participation in the 78th UNGA underscores Nepal's commitment to addressing global challenges, advancing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and promoting international cooperation for peace, prosperity, and sustainability.
