Kathmandu: The Nepali embassy in Tokyo, Japan, organized a special ceremony on September 19 to commemorate Constitution Day. The event was attended by a diverse group of dignitaries and members of the Nepali community living in Japan.

Among the attendees were members of the National Diet, ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions, high-ranking Japanese government officials, governors, mayors from various prefectures, representatives from the Japanese business community, and the Nepali expatriate community in Japan.

During the ceremony, Nepal's Ambassador to Japan, Dr. Durga Bahadur Subedi, extended his warm wishes to the Nepali community residing in Japan. He expressed his belief that Constitution Day would inspire all Nepali people to work unitedly for peace, development, and prosperity in Nepal. Ambassador Subedi emphasized the longstanding friendly relations between Nepal and Japan, highlighting shared values of democracy, peace, peaceful coexistence, brotherhood, and cooperation.

Ambassador Subedi also acknowledged the generous and continued cooperation of the Japanese government and people in Nepal's socioeconomic development. He emphasized that the relationship between the two countries was not limited to government interactions but also thrived at the grassroots level through people-to-people ties.

Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa sent her congratulatory message, extending her best wishes for the continued success and prosperity of the people of Nepal and the further development of friendly relations between Nepal and Japan. She noted that since Nepal's Constitution was promulgated in 2015, the Japanese government had actively supported the consolidation of democracy in Nepal. Foreign Minister Kamikawa highlighted the extensive people-to-people ties between the two nations, with over 140,000 Nepali individuals contributing to Japanese society in various fields.

Toshihiro Nikai, President of the Japan-Nepal Parliamentary Friendship League, congratulated the government and people of Nepal. He expressed happiness at the thriving democracy in Nepal following the promulgation of the Constitution in 2015. Nikai emphasized the importance of broader engagement and cooperation at the people's level in fostering strong bilateral relations and pledged to continue working for the promotion of Nepal-Japan relations.

Takehiro Shimida, Chief of Protocol of the Japanese government, also extended his best wishes for Nepal's peace, progress, and prosperity, along with the further development of relations between the two countries.

The ceremony featured performances by renowned Nepali singer Ananda Karki and musician Shikhar Santosh, who performed Nepali songs. Nepali cultural dances were also presented by Nepali artists residing in Japan. Over 400 people attended the event.

Earlier, on September 16, the Nepali Embassy in Japan hosted a special ceremony to celebrate the National Day among the Nepali community in Japan.
