Jajarkot: In a tragic incident, a 25-year-old new mother, Sharmila Chadara, succumbed to the cold in Jajarkot district on Sunday night. Sharmila, residing in Nalgad municipality-8, was living under a tarpaulin sheet with her one-month-old infant after their house was damaged in the earthquake.
The earthquake, measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale, struck on November 3, with its epicenter at Ramidanda in Jajarkot district. The quake claimed the lives of 154 people, injuring 346 others. Additionally, 26,557 private houses were completely destroyed, and 35,455 suffered partial damages.
The vulnerable conditions resulting from the earthquake have led to unfortunate incidents like Sharmila's demise due to exposure to the cold weather. The affected regions continue to grapple with the aftermath of the earthquake, highlighting the urgent need for sustained relief efforts.
