Kathmandu: The government has disbursed Rs 1 billion for the construction of temporary housing to support those affected by the earthquake in Jajarkot on November 3. The funds, allocated by the Finance Ministry, were released with Rs 930 million sent to the respective districts on Monday, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority.
Anil Pokhrel, Chief Executive Officer of the Authority, stated, "The Finance Ministry had released Rs 1 billion on Sunday. We sent Rs 930 million today. The amount was sent as per the government's priority for the quake-affected people." The cabinet meeting on November 13 had decided to allocate Rs 10 billion for this purpose, and the Finance Ministry disbursed the initial Rs 1 billion based on that decision.
Pokhrel explained that Rs 540 million was sent to Jajarkot, Rs 340 million to Rukum Paschim, and Rs 50 million to Salyan. The Authority had previously allocated Rs 1.41 billion for the construction of temporary housing, benefiting 60,337 individuals.
