Foreign National Apprehended at TIA with Six Kilograms of Gold

Kathmandu: In a significant operation, the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Customs Office arrested an Egyptian national, Mohamad Mogamad Lasim, along with six and a half kilograms of gold on Saturday night.

Lasim, arriving from Dubai on a Fly Dubai flight, was taken into custody by a joint team of the Customs Office and TIA Security. The TIA Customs Office, led by Chief Tokraj Pandey, disclosed that Lasim had been apprehended with 6.590 kilograms of gold, which was brought in powdered form.

Additionally, two other foreigners associated with the case have also been taken under control. However, detailed information about these individuals has not been disclosed at this time. The confiscated gold and the arrested individuals are now under the jurisdiction of the Customs Office.

The operation reflects the authorities' vigilance in preventing illegal activities and trafficking through the TIA, a critical international gateway. Investigations into the matter are expected to unfold further details regarding the nature and purpose of the gold smuggling attempt.
