Increasing Incidents of Dollar Exchange Fraud and Looting in Kathmandu Valley

Kathmandu: The Kathmandu Valley has witnessed a surge in cases related to looting under the guise of dollar exchange, according to the District Police Range, Kathmandu. Reports suggest the presence of a criminal network engaged in fraudulent activities, prompting a dedicated police team to address the issue.

The spokesperson for the Police Range Kathmandu, Superintendent Kumud Dhungel, disclosed that instances of fraud occurring under the pretext of dollar exchange have been reported from various parts of the Valley. Law enforcement has initiated efforts to curb this trend by mobilizing a specialized team. In recent days, the team has made eight arrests in connection with such fraudulent activities.

The individuals apprehended include Khadka Bahadur Tamang, Ashok Limbu, Ram Bahadur Lama, Subba Tamang, Chandra Bahadur Tamang, Rel Bahadur Tamang, Devraj Tamang, and Krishna Kumari Tamang alias Manju. Among the items confiscated by the police are 16 stacks of genuine US Dollars in 50 denominations, two passport copies, a Tilahari necklace, and a scooter.

The arrested individuals are currently in custody at the District Police Range, Kathmandu, while investigations continue. Authorities are actively searching for additional suspects involved in looting in collaboration with those already apprehended.
