Foreign Minister Saud Highlights Unique Advancement in Nepal-India Relations

Kathmandu: Foreign Minister Narayan Prakash Saud remarked that the relationship between Nepal and India has progressed smoothly in a distinctive manner. Speaking at a program organized to commemorate the 75th Republic Day of India, Minister Saud expressed the belief that the deep connections between the peoples of both countries would be further strengthened through the resolution of issues raised at various stages, based on dialogue and discussions.

Minister Saud acknowledged that the Treaty of Peace and Friendship of 1950 and border issues are multidimensional topics between the two nations. He emphasized the need for making objective and practical decisions regarding these matters. As close friends, he stated that it is unimaginable to have differences on common agendas. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of providing training and instructions to security personnel deployed on border security to ensure good treatment and conduct toward the people in the bordering regions.

In his interactions with Indian leaders and citizens, Minister Saud noted the cordial attitude of Indians towards Nepal and Nepalis. He expressed his realization of the Indian side's willingness to resolve border issues in Susta and Kalapani through a task force in a friendly manner.

Former Vice President Paramananda Jha emphasized the necessity of working together to deepen Nepal-India relations at the grassroots level. Maoist Centre's leader Devendra Poudel urged collaboration between Nepal and India to address common challenges facing humanity.

CPN (UML) leader Dr. Rajan Bhattarai emphasized defining Nepal-India relations in alignment with the existing understanding and perceptions of the people. Leader of Loktantrik Samajwadi Party Rajendra Mahato, civil society leader Dr. Sundar Mani Dixit, and others shared their views on the importance of deepening Nepal-India relations for the benefit of both sides.

Deputy Chief of Mission of the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, Prasanna Shrivastava, highlighted the unique relations between Nepal and India, emphasizing India's historical assistance to Nepal during times of disasters.
