Kathmandu: Newly appointed Finance Minister Barshman Pun has assumed his office at the Ministry of Finance this evening.
On the occasion, Finance Minister Pun said that he is aware of the problems facing the economy and would work hard to address them. "I will work with a focus on economic prosperity, good governance and social justice. I will also take initiative to instill new hope, though it is not so easy," Minister Pun said.
He also said that inter-ministerial coordination will be prioritized. This is the second time that Pun has been appointed the Minister of Finance. He was a member of the Constituent Assembly in 2064 and Minister of Peace and Reconstruction in 2067. He became the finance minister in 2068 BS. Prior to this, he served as the Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation in 2074. Pun is currently the deputy general secretary of CPN (Maoist Center). Elected from Rolpa Constituency No. 1, Pun is a law graduate. He was born on 10th of Jestha, 2028 BS in Madichour, Rolpa Municipality-4.
