Kathmandu: The government's Measles and Rubella Immunization campaign has achieved a significant milestone, with all children in 413 local levels across the country successfully receiving vaccinations.

Dr. Abhiyan Gautam, Chief of Child Health and Immunization Section, confirmed that the immunization drive covered all children in 413 local levels spanning 24 districts nationwide. The ongoing campaign has reached 180 local levels in 43 districts, immunizing approximately 66 percent of children, totaling 3.792 million.

Dr. Gautam noted that the campaign faced logistical challenges in 122 local levels in the mountainous regions, where snowfall impeded vaccination efforts. Despite this, the government has diligently executed the vaccination drive in 75 districts, excluding Rukum (West) and Jajarkot, considering the risk of measles and rubella infection. The initiative commenced on February 25, targeting the vaccination of 5.742 million children under 15 years of age.

The vaccination process involves a dedicated workforce of 49,937 health workers and 59,906 volunteers, reflecting a collective effort to ensure the campaign's success. The government remains committed to achieving its vaccination targets and safeguarding the health of children across the nation.
