96% of Children Vaccinated Against Measles and Rubella

Kathmandu: The government's immunization campaign against measles and rubella has successfully vaccinated a total of 5,643,000 children. The campaign, which ran from February 25 to March 20, aimed to protect children from the risk of measles and rubella infections.
Dr. Abhiyan Gautam, Chief of Child Health and Immunization Section, reported that the target of vaccinating 5,742,000 children was almost met. The preliminary report from the districts indicated that 96% of children were vaccinated during the campaign.
The immunization drive covered 75 districts across the country, excluding Rukum West and Jajarkot. These two districts had previously undergone vaccination campaigns. Children aged nine months to 15 years in 21 bordering districts with India, as well as children aged nine months to five years in 51 other districts, were vaccinated.
A total of 49,937 health workers and 59,906 volunteers were mobilized to ensure the success of the immunization campaign.
