Kathmandu: General Secretary of the Nepali Congress (NC), Gagan Kumar Thapa, announced that the party will conduct a comprehensive study to document the contributions made by veteran leaders and cadres to the country, the people, and the party.

Speaking at an event organized by the Nanda Prasad Januka Foundation on Monday, Thapa emphasized the importance of recording the history of every leader and cadre within the party, noting their significant roles in various political movements. He stated, "Every leader and cadre in the party has a history that bolstered the party's role in various political movements. They deserve to be documented."

Thapa also called for introspection and cleanliness within the party. He urged the party to evaluate the performance of elected members who have failed to meet expectations, saying, "NC needs to wipe out pollution in the party and pave a way for reform." He further stressed the urgency for the NC and Nepali politics to abandon the mindset of clinging to power indefinitely.

During the event, Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak highlighted the foundational contributions of leaders like Nanda Prasad to the NC, recounting how Nanda Prasad and others in Dolakha drew spiritual inspiration from Khaptad Baba before he moved to Sudurpaschim.

A commemorative book on Nanda Prasad was also released at the event. Foundation Chair and NC central member Ajay Shiwakoti praised Nanda Prasad's efforts in education, politics, and freedom in Dolakha district.

The Foundation honored democracy fighters Durga Prasad Upreti and Netra Bahadur Basnet during the program.
