Lisbon: A passport camp held in Portugal from March 29 to April 25 generated revenue of Rs 52.2 million. The camp was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal to help Nepali immigrants who were facing problems due to unavailability of passports and other documents.

A total of 2,308 Nepali people applied for e-passports through the direct registration system. The passports will be distributed to the applicants through the Consulate of Nepal in Lisbon.

The camp was organized in coordination with the Honorary Consulate of Nepal in Lisbon. A team of technical human resources headed by Passport Department's Section Officer Ranjeeta Dahal provided the passport service to the needy people.

Ambassador Deepak Adhikari, Non-Resident Nepali Ambassador to Portugal and also the Ambassador to France, said that the camp was a success and that most of the Nepali immigrants who were facing trouble were able to get their passports.

He also said that the camp was organized in response to the increasing number of Nepali people who are entering Portugal through different countries. He said that these people are facing problems related to documents for not being able to secure their passports.

Ambassador Adhikari also urged Nepali people to take cautionary measures to keep their passports safe. He said that without a passport, no document related process is possible in a foreign country. This is especially true in countries where there is no embassy.
