Washington: Music sensation Taylor Swift officially endorsed Kamala Harris for president shortly after the conclusion of the latest presidential debate. Swift, a cultural icon with a massive following, expressed her support in an Instagram post, calling Harris "a steady-handed, gifted leader." The post, which encouraged voter registration, quickly gained over 2.3 million likes.

Swift, holding her cat Benjamin Button in the photo, took a jab at past remarks made by JD Vance about childless women. She signed the post, "Childless Cat Lady."

This endorsement, which was not coordinated with Harris's campaign, caught her running mate, Tim Walz, by surprise during a live MSNBC interview. Walz praised Swift's message, calling it "the kind of courage we need in America."

Swift's decision was also a response to recent posts from Donald Trump, who shared AI-generated images implying her support for his campaign. Swift wrote that this prompted her to clarify her stance publicly.

Trump dismissed Swift's endorsement, predicting she would "pay a price in the marketplace." Swift, known for her political views, previously supported Joe Biden in 2020 and has been critical of Trump’s rhetoric.

With Swift's popularity, especially among younger voters and Democrats, her endorsement could have a significant influence as the election approaches. Swift is expected to be a major presence at the MTV Video Music Awards, where she may elaborate on her political stance.
