100 Dead, 67 Missing in Floods and Landslides Across Country

Kathmandu: At least 100 persons have been killed and another 67 reportedly missing in the late monsoon-induced floods and landslides across Nepal, the Home Ministry said. Another 100 people have been injured in the disaster.

In terms of casualties, Lalitpur suffered the most number of fatalities with 20 deaths in total followed by Dhading (15), Kathmandu (12) and Kavre (10). The districts that saw loss of life are Makwanpur with seven lives lost, Sindhupalchok six and four each in Solukhumbu, Panchthar and Bhaktapur while several others witnessed lower numbers.

For search and rescue operations as many as 9983 security personnel have been deployed, according to a statement issued by Rishiram Tiwari, spokesperson for the Ministry of Home Affairs. As of now, 3,039 people have been rescued from the disaster-hit areas.
