Gaza City: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has sounded the alarm on the deteriorating living conditions in Gaza, describing the situation as "inhumane."
In a statement shared on the social media platform X, the agency reported the accumulation of waste in central Gaza, with sewage water leaking into the streets. "Families have no choice but to live next to this accumulated waste, exposing them to foul odors and the imminent risk of a health disaster," the UN agency stated.
UNRWA is urgently calling for an immediate ceasefire to address the growing humanitarian crisis, warning that the lack of basic sanitation could soon lead to a major public health emergency. The worsening conditions in Gaza have been a growing concern for international organizations, with calls mounting for swift relief and intervention.
