Kathmandu: With the monsoon retreating from Nepal, the country is now experiencing colder temperatures, prompting meteorologists to advise the public to take necessary precautions against the chill. Following the rainfall on September 27 and 28, skies have cleared, and temperatures have started to dip, especially in the mornings and evenings.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Kathmandu Valley has been experiencing a gradual decline in temperature over the past two weeks. Meteorologist Sanjiv Adhikari reported that the minimum temperature in Kathmandu dropped from 20°C on October 1 to 16°C, with Sunday's reading falling to 14.7°C.

The drop in temperature is not limited to the capital; other regions across Nepal are also experiencing a fall in mercury. The Weather Forecasting Division noted that westerly winds are impacting Lumbini, Sudurpaschim, Karnali, and Gandaki provinces, while Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati provinces are seeing partial weather changes due to a blend of westerly and local winds.

Despite some weather fluctuations in hilly areas, the forecast predicts clear skies across most of the country today. The public is encouraged to remain cautious and take measures to stay warm as the cold weather sets in.
