Paris: In a swift response to Donald Trump’s unexpected victory over Kamala Harris in the U.S. presidential election, leaders from around the world expressed congratulations and hope for strengthened ties. Though results were still being finalized, many statements were shared early Wednesday.
China’s foreign ministry spokesperson emphasized "mutual respect" and cooperation as guiding principles for U.S.-China relations moving forward. Meanwhile, Russia expressed tempered expectations, reaffirming its priorities in Ukraine and signaling it would work pragmatically with the new U.S. administration.
In the Middle East, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hailed Trump’s win as "history’s greatest comeback" and a renewal of the U.S.-Israel alliance. Saudi Arabia echoed this sentiment, with King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman highlighting the "close relations" between their countries.
