Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli announced that the government is actively pursuing plans to improve road safety through the development of tunnel ways.
Taking to his social media after the breakthrough of the Siddhababa Tunnel Way on Friday, PM Oli highlighted the government's commitment to safer infrastructure. The Siddhababa Tunnel, a national pride project under the Siddhartha Highway, stretches 1.12 kilometers, connecting Butwal to Tansen.
Addressing Landslide Concerns
PM Oli noted that the Siddhababa area has been plagued by frequent landslides, resulting in the tragic loss of lives and property over the years. The tunnel aims to mitigate these risks and provide safer travel for the people in Palpa, Syangja, Kaski, Gulmi, Arghakhanchi, and Pyuthan districts.
Boosting Connectivity
In addition to enhancing safety, the Siddhababa Tunnel will integrate road connectivity with the Kaligandaki Corridor, further improving transportation efficiency and accessibility in the region.
A Virtual Milestone
PM Oli virtually attended the tunnel breakthrough ceremony from his official residence, Singha Durbar. He expressed optimism about the project, stating that the tunnel would offer passengers significant relief from the dangers of landslides and road accidents while promoting regional development.
The government’s focus on tunnel construction underscores its broader strategy to modernize Nepal’s infrastructure and ensure safer travel across the nation.
