Prime Minister Oli Emphasizes Strengthening of Air Services and Tourism Promotion

Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has emphasized the need to further expand and strengthen Nepal’s air services. Responding to lawmakers’ queries at the House of Representatives (HoR) meeting today, Prime Minister Oli stated that the government is actively working to make the country’s air services more prompt and reliable.

He mentioned that efforts are underway to improve the efficiency and management of the national flag carrier, Nepal Airlines Corporation. Additionally, he highlighted the government’s steps in restructuring the Nepal Tourism Board and mobilizing Nepali embassies, diplomatic missions, tourism ambassadors, the Non-Resident Nepali Association, Nepali students abroad, and various organizations both at home and internationally to promote Nepal’s tourism sector.

According to the Prime Minister, promotional initiatives by the Nepal Tourism Board and other organizations are being intensified to encourage tourist arrivals, particularly from neighboring countries. He further informed that the Federal Parliament is preparing to present a Bill aimed at revising and integrating existing tourism-related laws during the current parliamentary session. "The Mountaineering Expedition Regulation has been revised," he added.

In response to another query, Prime Minister Oli provided updates on the Sunsari-Morang Irrigation Project, stating that a side intake has been constructed near Chatara of the Koshi River, which is now providing irrigation facilities to the region.

Addressing a question raised by lawmaker Manish Jha, Prime Minister Oli remarked that the current government has dismantled improper practices concerning the transfer, promotion, and appointment of officials. He cited the recent appointment of the Nepal Police Chief as evidence of the government’s commitment to fairness and reform in public administration.

Prime Minister Oli also shared that construction work on the Butwal-Narayangadh road section has resumed and is progressing rapidly. He added that the government has secured both internal and external debt financing to implement projects in productive and development sectors.

Furthermore, he informed the House that the government has amended the Act related to industrial and enterprise development through an ordinance, aiming to create a more conducive environment for investment and business growth in Nepal.
