Kathmandu: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has called on all political parties to regard the upcoming House of Representatives election on Falgun 21 as a national ritual and to participate actively to ensure its success.
In her Chhath festival message issued on Tuesday, Prime Minister Karki said that it is the collective responsibility of all parties to normalize the situation created after the Gen-G movement and to move the nation toward democratic stability through elections.
“I call on all parties to view the upcoming election as a national ritual and make it successful,” the statement reads. The Prime Minister emphasized the need for unity, responsibility, and cooperation among all stakeholders during this critical period.
She further stated that “street protests alone cannot solve all problems,” urging political groups to express differences peacefully and seek public approval through elections, which she described as the true essence of democracy.
Highlighting the spirit of Chhath, Karki said that Nepali festivals represent social unity, harmony, and brotherhood, and that Chhath serves as a cultural bridge linking the Terai and hill regions through shared values of truth, non-violence, and respect for nature.
