Candidate Nomination Registration Concludes Peacefully in All 165 Constituencies

Kathmandu: Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari has said that the registration of candidates’ nomination papers for the upcoming House of Representatives election has been completed peacefully in all 165 constituencies across the country, creating an environment that safeguards the inviolable right of citizens to vote.

Peaceful Completion of Nomination Process
Addressing a press conference after the conclusion of nomination registration held from 10 am to 5 pm, as per the Election Commission’s announced schedule, Bhandari expressed confidence that the process was conducted smoothly nationwide. He said the peaceful completion of nominations reflects a positive atmosphere for the democratic exercise.

Claims, Objections and Symbol Allocation
According to Acting Chief Election Commissioner Bhandari, the claims and objections related to the registered nomination papers will now be examined. After completing the investigation process, the final list of candidates will be published and election symbols will be allocated on Magh 9. He added that candidates will be allowed to conduct door-to-door campaigns only after the allocation of election symbols.

Election Campaign Schedule
Bhandari clarified that large-scale election campaign programs can be organized only after Falgun 4. He said the Election Commission is proceeding strictly in line with the election calendar to ensure a fair and orderly process.

Security Arrangements for Falgun 21 Polls
He stated that all four security agencies will be mobilized in a coordinated manner to complete the election program for the polls scheduled on Falgun 21. He expressed hope that the representatives elected through the process will contribute to strengthening good governance in the country.

Elections in Vacant Positions
The Acting Chief Election Commissioner also committed to holding elections in vacant areas within six months, following consultations with the government, after the resignation of provincial assembly members and local-level chiefs and deputy chiefs.

Call for Strict Compliance with Code of Conduct
Bhandari urged all concerned to strictly adhere to the punishment-oriented election code of conduct issued by the Commission this year. He warned that if any complaint regarding violation of the code of conduct is received, action will be taken in accordance with the law.
