15 Million Ballot Papers Printed for Proportional System: Election Commission

Kathmandu: The Election Commission has stated that 15 million ballot papers have been printed so far for the proportional electoral system for the upcoming House of Representatives elections scheduled for Falgun 21.

Ballot Printing in Final Phase
According to the Commission, ballot paper printing began on Magh 2 at the printing house of Janak Shiksha Samagri Kendra Limited. With the completion nearing its final stage, around 5 million ballot papers still remain to be printed.

Printing for Direct System to Begin Soon
The Commission informed that printing of ballot papers for the direct (first-past-the-post) electoral system will commence immediately after the completion of printing for the proportional system. The final list of candidates for the direct electoral system has already been finalized.

Candidate List and Symbols Made Public
The Election Commission has made public the list of 3,406 candidates contesting in the House of Representatives elections. Election symbols were also distributed on Friday. A copy of the voter list has been printed and distributed to all districts for the purpose of candidate nomination registration.

Candidate Statistics
According to Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, the finalized candidate list includes 3,017 men, 388 women and one candidate from other categories. The Commission stated that all election-related programs—from nomination registration to withdrawal—were completed peacefully and enthusiastically.

Proportional Candidate List Published
In addition, the Commission has also published the list of candidates under the proportional electoral system, further advancing preparations for the Falgun 21 elections.
