Kathmandu: Heavy rainfall has been pounding the Kathmandu Valley since yesterday afternoon, with no signs of letting up. The Department of Weather, Water, and Meteorology has issued an alert, urging people to stay vigilant. Nepal Telecom has also been sending text messages to mobile users, warning them of the dangers of flooding.

The Flood Forecast Division has issued warnings about rising water levels in several rivers, including the Vishnumati, Dhovikhola, and Manohara. People living in river coastal areas and traveling along river bank roads are advised to be cautious .

In other parts of the country, light to moderate rain has been falling since last night. In some areas, such as Hariharpugarhi Sindhuli, Marin Kushuntar, and around the Bagmati watershed, there has been very heavy rain in the last three to six hours. This has raised concerns about riverbank erosion and flooding.

The Department of Weather predicts that more rain is likely in the coming days. People in affected areas, including Budhanilkanth, Sundarijal, and Nagarkot, are advised to stay on high alert. Authorities will continue to monitor the situation and provide timely updates.
