Kimathanka (Sankhuwasabha): Nepal's Minister for Foreign Affairs, Narayan Prakash Saud, has announced that the Kimathanka transit point will soon be brought back into operation. The transit point, located on the Nepal-China border in the northern region of Sankhuwasabha district, will be upgraded and reopened.

Minister Saud stated that the Chinese government is also positive about reopening this transit point, and it has been included on the agenda for Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda's' visit to China on September 23. The reopening of this historic transit point is expected to directly benefit trade and business in the eastern region of Nepal.

Additionally, Minister Saud mentioned that the Chinese government is positive about the construction of a road and transmission line in the Kimathanka area. The closure of the transit point during the COVID-19 pandemic had led to shortages of food grains and daily consumables in Bhotkhola, making its reopening a priority for the region.
