Kathmandu: In a recent address at the inauguration of the first conference of the Nepali Congress (NC) Bagmati Province, President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba emphasized the crucial role his party should play in navigating the nation through its current critical situation. President Deuba stressed the importance of a republican democratic system and urged for the strengthening of the party from the grassroots level to enhance its effectiveness.

NC Vice President Dhanraj Gurung, who also serves as the Minister for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, indicated that if the parliamentary session faced delays, the Federal Civil Service Act would be introduced through an ordinance. He further emphasized the government's commitment to promptly endorse federal laws to empower local levels. Gurung highlighted the need for behavioral change within the NC.

General-Secretary Biswo Prakash Sharma stated that both the NC and the government should focus on empowering provincial governments. Sharma warned of a Singhadurbar gherao campaign through Mahasamiti decision if laws were not introduced to empower provincial structures before the Mahasamiti meeting.

NC Bagmati Province President Indra Bahadur Baniya expressed concerns about the central government's hesitation to grant rights to the province. The conference was attended by 782 province delegates from 66 federal constituencies of 13 districts under the Bagmati province, federal lawmakers, province assembly members, and regional presidents.
