Kathmandu: The four-day gathering of the Nepali Congress Mahasamiti, the national council, is set to conclude today after a series of deliberations that included group-wise discussions on various reports over the past three days.

The meeting, which commenced on February 19 in Godavari, Lalitpur, provided a platform for members to express their views and opinions on critical issues facing the party.

The suggestions derived from the group discussions will be presented today in the plenary session by the provincial office-bearers of the party. Following this, a closing ceremony is scheduled for later this afternoon, as confirmed by Head of NC Information, Communication, and Publicity Department Min Bishwakarma.

During the meeting, prominent leaders presented reports on key aspects. On the second day, Vice-President Purna Bahadur Khadka discussed policy proposals, General Secretary Gagan Thapa covered organizational proposals, General Secretary Bishwaprakash Sharma addressed contemporary political proposals, and spokesperson Dr. Prakasharan Mahat presented a comprehensive report on the country's current economic situation, prospects, and future directions. Additionally, Audit Committee Coordinator Shyam Kumar Ghimire presented an audit report.

The discussions involved district presidents, heads of sister and well-wisher organizations, and public relations committees expressing their views on all five reports submitted during the meeting.

With over 2000 Mahasamiti members participating from across the country and abroad, the meeting served as a significant platform for comprehensive discussions on vital issues impacting the party's future trajectory.

Notably, members continued to voice their opinions on the third day of the meeting, discussing policy proposals, organizational structures, contemporary political issues, economic situations, and audit reports. The members' views emphasized the need for the Nepali Congress to play an effective role in implementing the constitution, adhere to the party statute, empower provincial structures, lead efforts to safeguard the republic, activate party organizations, and strengthen sister and well-wisher organizations.

Recommendations also touched on establishing links with social movements for social justice, promoting modern agricultural systems, boosting tourism while protecting the environment, accelerating infrastructure development, ensuring balanced international relations, and creating a favorable environment for foreign investment.

Closing the meeting, the presidents of all seven provinces are expected to present issues raised in the group discussions before delegates. The plenary session will jointly discuss and pass these proposals.
