Madan Bhandari's Birth Anniversary Being Marked

Kathmandu: The 73rd birth anniversary of Madan Kumar Bhandari, the former secretary-general of the CPN (UML), is being commemorated today with various programs highlighting his contributions to Nepal's communist movement.

The Madan Bhandari Foundation is hosting a seminar on "People's Multiparty Democracy: Political Development and Stability" this afternoon at the CPN (UML) central office in Chyasal, Lalitpur. During the event, the Madan Bhandari Rastriya Puraskar will also be presented.

The People's Multiparty Democracy, championed by Bhandari and introduced at the party's fifth national general convention, remains the guiding principle of the UML.

Born in Taplejung district in 2009 BS, Bhandari passed away in a road accident at Dasdhunga, Chitwan, while traveling from Pokhara in 2050 BS. He is remembered as an innovative interpreter of Marxism and a significant communist ideologue within Nepal's political landscape.
