Rasuwa: A massive flood in the Lhende River near the Nepal-China border has caused widespread destruction, including the collapse of the Miteri Bridge, a key structure linking the two countries.

According to Assistant Chief District Officer Dhruv Prasad Adhikari, the flood also swept away several vehicles parked in the customs yard at Timure. The situation worsened when 11 rescue workers, who had rushed to the area to assist, became trapped due to the rising water levels. A Nepal Army helicopter has been requested to carry out an emergency air rescue.

“We are currently collecting accurate data on the extent of the damage,” Adhikari stated.

Rasuwagadhi Hydro Staff Also Affected
The Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Project has also reported that its employees have been affected and are awaiting rescue. The full scale of the damage to infrastructure, equipment, and personnel is still being assessed.

This disaster has raised alarm over safety in the region, especially with ongoing monsoon conditions increasing the risk of further floods and landslides. Authorities are on high alert, and emergency response efforts are underway.
