Kathmandu: Citizens can now register their names in the voter’s list online using their National Identity Card, according to Prime Minister Sushila Karki.
In a post on her social media account today, the Prime Minister said that the service has been launched to enable citizens to self-register for the voter’s name list without having to visit the Election Commission office. With this system in place, citizens possessing a National ID Card will not be required to visit the commission for biometric verification.
The online voter registration process will be completed in four phases:
First Phase: Linking the details from the National Identity Card to the voter’s identity record. Second Phase: Verification of details followed by necessary corrections. Third Phase: Uploading required documents in case of changes related to voting center, new residence, or marital status. Fourth Phase: Final submission of the form online, completing the voter registration process.
The government expects this system to make voter registration easier, faster, and more accessible for citizens across the country.
