Kathmandu: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, also known as Prachanda, emphasized the importance of not limiting future creations and research to tradition. Speaking at an event commemorating the 66th anniversary of the Nepal Academy, PM Dahal called for a cultural transformation that would institutionalize the social structure and political system of Nepali society.
PM Dahal expressed the view that the Nepal Academy, as a leading institution, has a vital role in developing and promoting all languages spoken in Nepal, along with the literature, culture, and branches of knowledge associated with those languages, in accordance with the spirit of the Constitution. He emphasized the need for cultural traditions, knowledge, and literary thinking in Nepal to evolve and be relevant to modern knowledge and thinking.
The Academy, which has been preserving Nepali language, literature, and culture for over six decades, is now faced with the responsibility of resisting globalized postmodern cultures and feudalistic cultures deeply ingrained in Nepali society.
PM Dahal stressed the importance of building a culture that reflects the principles of federalism, republicanism, and proportionality. He expressed confidence that the Academy would successfully contribute to the creation of literature and cultures based on respect for labor, which is essential for achieving the goals outlined in the socialist-oriented system envisioned by the Constitution. The government pledged its utmost support to the Academy's current leadership and their new and creative proposals.
PM Dahal also expressed joy over the Academy's initiative to organize a multilingual poetry competition, which has received a record number of poetry submissions this year. Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Sudan Kirati, highlighted the cultural significance of the poetry competition and assured the Ministry's facilitation of the event.
The Chancellor of the Academy, Bhupal Rai, shed light on the National Poetry Competition and outlined the Academy's plans for the preservation and promotion of languages, literature, philosophy, culture, and social sciences in the country.
