Prime Minister Prachanda Affirms Government's Commitment to Protect Children's Rights

Kathmandu: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, known as 'Prachanda,' has reaffirmed the government's unwavering commitment to safeguard, advance, and fulfill the rights of children in a child-friendly environment.

In a message delivered on the occasion of National Children's Day, 2080, Prime Minister Dahal emphasized that the government is actively working to implement the legal, policy, and institutional frameworks outlined in the constitution, laws, and policies concerning children's rights.

He stressed that it is the responsibility of the state to provide alternative care and family support to children in need of special protection at the local level. Furthermore, the Prime Minister underlined the necessity of increased public investment to ensure the rights and development of children.

Prime Minister Dahal appealed to federal, provincial, and local governments to accelerate their investments in the protection and promotion of children's rights on this occasion.

He emphasized that the prevention of violence against children, including sexual harassment and child trafficking, is a collective responsibility shared by families, communities, and the entire nation. To achieve this, he called for the active involvement of all three tiers of government, non-governmental child protection mechanisms, the National Child Rights Council, provincial child rights committees, and local child rights committees by providing them with the necessary resources and means.

The Prime Minister also urged national and international stakeholders to collaborate in coordinated efforts for the comprehensive development of children and called on all sectors to work effectively in this regard.

Prime Minister Dahal extended his best wishes for the National Children's Day, expressing hopes for the happiness, health, prosperity, and child-friendly livelihoods of all children.

The 59th National Children's Day is being celebrated across the country under the theme 'Investing in our future means investing in our children.'
