Kathmandu: In a tragic series of events, a total of 27 individuals have lost their lives due to fires, forest fires, and lightning strikes over the past 24 days. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), these fatalities occurred between April 13 and May 6.

The breakdown of casualties includes 18 deaths from fires, six from forest fires, and three from lightning strikes, with an additional 90 individuals sustaining injuries during these incidents, as reported by NDRRMA sources.

In response to the crisis, the Authority has taken steps to provide financial assistance to the families of fire victims for the construction of temporary shelters. This initiative mirrors previous efforts extended to victims of the Gorkha earthquake, aiming to support those affected by recent disasters in rebuilding their lives.
