Kathmandu: Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', announced that his party will contest the upcoming by-elections and general elections independently, without forming alliances with other political forces.
Speaking at a program organized by the CPN (Maoist Centre) Dolakha-Kathmandu Liaison-Coordination Committee, Prachanda said that past alliances with the Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) had weakened the party's identity.
Dahal revealed that the party is preparing to compete alone, starting with the by-elections scheduled for November. He emphasized that the initiatives his government undertook in the past for good governance, social justice, and economic prosperity have reinvigorated public support for the Maoist Centre.
He urged the party to focus on organizational strengthening and mass mobilization, adding that his party has been at the forefront in serving people during the recent monsoon-induced disasters. Dahal encouraged party leaders and cadres to prioritize serving those in need and noted that even intellectuals and members of other political parties have encouraged him to lead efforts in protecting people's rights.
Maoist Centre Vice Chairman Agni Sapkota also spoke at the event, affirming the party’s unity under Dahal's leadership and indicating that the upcoming central committee meeting will unveil new plans for party building and mass mobilization.
