PM Dahal Emphasizes Effective Ministry Delivery, Ensuring People's Hopes

Kathmandu: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has underscored the government's responsibility to work diligently in order to maintain the hopes of the people. During a meeting with bodies associated with the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the Prime Minister pledged a significant improvement in upcoming government policies, programs, and the budget.

Prime Minister Dahal stressed the importance of effective delivery, stating that holding a position is meaningless if it does not translate into actual results. He assured a commitment to a quality change in government initiatives and urged responsible bodies to work earnestly to fulfill the expectations of the people. The Prime Minister referred to his recent national address, outlining the government's roadmap for the upcoming fiscal year, and expressed determination for its full implementation.

Announcing plans for reshuffling the Office of the Prime Minister, Prime Minister Dahal emphasized that ministry-level discussions aim to enhance government performance. He noted that effective delivery by ministries is crucial to avoid questioning the government's credibility.

During the meeting, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Prakash Jwala, provided updates on priority projects, including the Muglin-Pokhara and Narayangadh-Butwal road projects, and highlighted ongoing construction work on the Nagdhunga tunnel. Minister Jwala emphasized the resolution of payment dues to contractors.

Minister Jwala advocated for a flexible process in resource management and securing sufficient budgets for projects of national importance. He also called for the establishment of an umbrella law or a high-level mechanism to address issues in the physical infrastructure sectors.

Vice Chair of the National Planning Commission, Dr. Min Bahadur Shrestha, committed to prioritizing the formulation of development acts, while Chief Secretary Dr. Baikuntha Aryal reported ongoing efforts to streamline payment procedures for contractors. He also acknowledged the increasing pressure regarding budget responsibilities for roads and bridges.
