PM Dahal Highlights Importance of Scientific Agricultural Production

Kathmandu:Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' emphasized the importance of scientific agricultural production and encouraged the Agriculture and Forestry University to prioritize research, innovation, and the development of skilled human resources. Speaking at the 11th General Assembly of the University, the Prime Minister urged the institution to apply research findings and innovative techniques to promote agriculture and forestry.

The Prime Minister recalled the historical background of the University, which was established in 2067 BS with the aim of advancing studies, research, and technology utilization in agriculture, livestock development, pisciculture, and forestry. He pledged continuous government support for the University.

The University has already established eight colleges under the Faculty of Agriculture, one under the Faculty of Forestry, and two agricultural science centers in different provinces, as part of its mission to reach across the country.

During the event, the Prime Minister highlighted the ongoing implementation of the second 10-year strategic plan aimed at helping the University achieve its goals and mission. He urged the University to focus on the effective and quality operation of existing programs and expand research centers.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of striving for self-sufficiency in agriculture and production by utilizing advanced technology and domestic resources. He commended the efforts of agro-scientists working in the field despite limited resources.

Addressing the University's financial issues, the Prime Minister called for a reduction in arrears and their resolution. Ashok Rai, the Minister of Education, Science, and Technology, was also present at the event.

In conclusion, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal emphasized the need for scientific agricultural production, research, and innovation in the Agriculture and Forestry University. He expressed his commitment to supporting the University and urged the institution to focus on the effective operation of existing programs and the expansion of research centers, while also promoting self-sufficiency in agriculture and production.
