Cabinet Greenlights PM Dahal's Participation in 78th UNGA

Kathmandu: The government has officially endorsed the attendance of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' at the upcoming United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

Scheduled to convene at the United Nations headquarters in New York, USA from September 5, the 78th UNGA will feature a high-level General Debate on September 19.

The decision was taken during a meeting of the Council of Ministers held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar. Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma, confirmed the approval of PM Dahal's visit to the event centered around the theme 'Rebuilding Trust and Reigniting Global Solidarity'.

As part of the same meeting, the government sanctioned a loan assistance of over 3.29 billion Japanese Yen to be provided by the Government of Japan for the Dhulikhel Hospital-based Trauma and Emergency Centre Reform Project.

Furthermore, the Cabinet endorsed the Nepal Securities Board's adjustment of Securities and Issuance Seventh Amendment Regulations-2080 BS in alignment with the Securities Act-2063 BS, Section 116, sub-section 1.

Recognizing the significant contribution of the late JB Tuhure, renowned for his progressive songs and music that played a role in catalyzing political transformations in the country, the government bestowed upon him the title of 'Jana Gayak' (People's Singer). Tuhure was also a member of the second Constituent Assembly, representing the then CPN (Maoist). He passed away in 2021 at the age of 78.

Additionally, the meeting extended condolences for the passing of the father of Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Sudan Kirati, and paid tribute to the departed soul. The government also conveyed heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family.
